Power Rankings – Week 4
Hello all, and welcome back to the most unbiased power rankings covering MTV’s The Challenge. These power rankings will be a combination of episode performance, TV time (including interviews and conversations), and drama (whether they were involved, plus the added significance of it). Each challenger will show their respective finish on the daily, as well as a grade for the other two categories.
* These power rankings are completely spoiler free! *
What a wild episode we had from start to finish. The drama continued to spill over from episode 3 as Team USA continues to show cracks in their so-called unified team. This episode presented Team USA throwing the daily challenge team UK fighting over who should be in the tribunal and last we had one of the craziest eliminations in challenge history.
1. Bear TV Time: A+ Drama: A+ Last Week: 2 (+1)
Say what you want about the UK loudmouth arrogant playboy, bear ran the show from start to finish when it came to camera time. Not only did he perform well on the winning team he also hooked up with two different girls, one of which might have rekindled an old flame with Georgia and strengthen and his alliance. Nobody else had as much TV time as bear this week and with him finishing in second last week was an easy move up one spot.
2. Bananas TV Time: A Drama: A+ Last Week: 3 (+1)
The man with the plan came into this episode wanting to get rid of anybody who was still tied to Wes. He was one of the two people who control of throwing the dele challenge and successfully did so. Bananas continues to the everybody on Team USA know that they are not a team and everybody secretly has deals that they’re not wanting to admit. Going into next week it'll be interesting to see if throwing the challenge and losing Laurel will still work out with his plan.
3. Georgia TV Time: A Drama: A Last Week: 8 (+5)
Georgia sure knows how to stay relevant throughout an episode. From her friend zone relationship with Josh too finding that connection again with bear, and being in charge of the tribunal, she controlled the pace here. Georgia throwing her vote towards Cara might make her a Target A Team USA, but is team UK can keep winning that shouldn’t be an issue.
4. Ninja TV Time: A Drama: A+ Last Week: 21 (+17)
Speaking of the craziest elimination of all time we have Ninja coming out victorious and one of the wildest and most controversial eliminations of all time against Laurel. You just seem to be emotionally broken when her team voted her in despite her being the one true rookie on their team. Ninja has this new found confidence as well as some anger towards bananas, revenge could be on the horizon.
5. Kyle TV Time: A Drama: A Last Week: 12 (+7)
The winner of best interviews goes to Kyle this week. Not only does he drop great quotes every scene, but he was the driving force behind of Laurel and bananas actions this week. at the start of the episode Kyle told Laura everything she wanted to hear which was the motivation in backbone behind why the episode went the way it did. Kyle continues to show his social game is extremely strong.
6. Theo TV Time: C+ Drama: C+ Last Week: 7 (+1)
and what might be a little bit of a surprise feel moves up one spot to number six this week. The reason why he stays this high is because he out-performed everybody on team UK being the first contestant up the hill in the daily challenge, and had one of his alliance members Georgia control the tribunal.
7. Kam TV Time: B+ Drama: A- Last Week: 14 (+7)
try and put Kam into a corner and she's going to fight back. Kam pushing away all allegations of her having previous agreements before the show started. Be no stranger to the world of drama on the show, Kam held her ground strong and kept her alliance tight.
8. CT TV Time: B+ Drama: B+ Last Week: 11 (+3)
The dad of the show was caught in the middle of two alliances he was forced to pick a side. CT siding with d might have been the best move he could have made, as he still intimidates Kyle to the point or he won’t throw him in. CT likes to stay in the middle for as long as possible however he might have to adapt his game and go with it alliance sooner than he normally does.
9. Cara TV Time: B+ Drama: B Last Week: 15 (+6)
This episode had Cara shook. She was already pissed off at the fact that Wes went home, as well as her team throwing a daily challenge that was winnable. For the first time in a while, finds herself at the Target of her teammates. Paulie might need to keep motivating Cara to keep her head in the game.
10. Paulie TV Time: B Drama: B Last Week: 10 (-)
With poly being the type of competitor that he is there was no doubt that wants Team USA through this challenge he was going to be pissed off. Having already been upset at Josh for voting in Wes, this episode clearly set the tone for what Paulie is going to develop his game for the rest of the season.
11. Zach TV Time: B Drama: C+ Last Week: 5 (-6)
Zach was another member of Team UK that was not happy with his team throwing a challenge. Be somebody that just loves to compete and shows up for those reasons you could see the obvious frustration on his face. Zac plays this game exactly like CT with dominant daily performances and being the middleman when it comes to politics. The question is though how long can you play the middle man before he’s forced to choose a side?
12. Josh TV Time: B Drama: C+ Last Week: 6 (-6)
Malik’s favorite Challenger falls down six spots this week. this week Josh wasn't very good in the daily challenge as he's part of the alliance that was throwing it, and he has almost officially been friend-zoned by Georgia. It's still yet to be seen if throwing in Wes will come back to bite him.
13. Dee TV Time: B+ Drama: A- Last Week: 20 (+7)
G moves up big time this week just do two how much drama she was involved inwith being a part of the tribunal as well as having to fight for her best friend Ninja. It’ll be interesting to see how d can play this game now that her mentor Wes is out.
14. Jordan TV Time: C+ Drama: C Last Week: 4 (-10)
What are the biggest followers this week is Jordan. He’s been maintaining his stay in the top five for the past couple of weeks however almost an entire episode with little airtime and little amounts of drama push him out of the top 10 for the first time.
15. Ashley TV Time: B+ Drama: B Last Week: 9 (-6)
so this might be another confusing placement on our power rankings this week. Ashley did get a lot of airtime as well as a good amount of drama involvement as well. However, she had two major flaws in this episode. those two flaws that move her down or quitting the daily challenge as well as folding to Laurel’s classic notebook intimidation tactic.
16. Leroy TV Time: B Drama: C+ Last Week: 16 (-)
Leroy has been the most consistent Challenger this season. Having been power ranked number 16 three consecutive weeks. Always known as the man of a reason but will always hide he's agreeing with bananas throwing challenges, Leroy did just enough to keep him where he is this week.
17. Rogan TV Time: C+ Drama: C Last Week: 13 (-4)
Rogan takes a small tumble this week despite his team winning. Not much we got to see out of Rogan this week as his “relationship” with Dee has played out. Outside of working out with his best friend and throwing a dodgeball at pawleys head not much to be seen this week.
18. Tori TV Time: C+ Drama: C+ Last Week: 17 (-1)
Tori seems to have an issue with Cara, not exactly sure where this comes from other than potentially lines being drawn and her just picking a side. This will be interesting in two weeks when we get another female elimination day.
19. Idris TV Time: B Drama: C Last Week: 25 (+6)
Finally one of Team UK's worst-performing males gets a little more air time does a little better on the challenge and was ultimately the deciding factor on who went into elimination for team USA. Idris seems to be gaining some confidence which could be very good for team UK going forward.
20. Nany TV Time: B- Drama: B Last Week: 24 (+4)
Nany is not one to shy away from somebody calling her out male or female. Many didn’t back down from Paulie at all. Nany is aligned with bananas and at the bottom of the competitive female line for team USA. She either needs a very strong performance in the next two weeks or to make a tribunal in 2 weeks to keep herself out of the elimination.
21. Joss TV Time: D+ Drama: D Last Week: 18 (-3)
This is the part where we hit our bottom tier. Everybody in this bottom tier aka the basement didn't do anything on camera worth mentioning. Joss's highlight was working out with his best friend.
22. Turbo TV Time: D+ Drama: D Last Week: 19 (-3)
Turbo really didn't do anything he had an opportunity to try and stand up and be political yet decided to let team USA do what they want. And a very odd showing there were almost no interviews for Turbo as well.
23. Kayleigh TV Time: D Drama: D Last Week: 23 (-)
Kayleigh stood next to cam whenever Kam was involved in drama and that’s it.
24. Jenny TV Time: D+ Drama: D Last Week: 22 (-2)
the daily challenge should have been a great time to showcase her physical dominance yet MTV shied away from her. What would actually be very entertaining and seeing team UK lose in 2 weeks and Jenny getting a chance to shine in an elimination.
25. Esther TV Time: D+ Drama: D Last Week: 26 (+1)
Esther is not somebody you want to bring with you to a final. She is not conditioned orange shape but the positive note for her is that she does try very hard in every competition. That will only get you so far. Look for Team USA to try and keep her around as long as possible.
26. Nicole TV Time: D Drama: D Last Week: 27 (+1)
Every episode Nicole is on the challenge fans feel like they're going to get something however, she continues to disappoint by not being showcased at all. From a competitive standpoint she is one of the weakest people on their team, however she is heavily connected in an alliance.
27. Laurel Finished 27th
Karma bit back hard on Laurel this week. Laura thought she had everything in the bag by throwing the daily challenge and getting Ninja voted into elimination. What are the most entertaining and controversial eliminations in challenge history Laurel appear to come forward victorious. However her game came crashing down to earth quickly. An unfortunate situation more Laurel tried to get away with just placing her final pipe from the top of the tree and ended up providing a disqualification that gave Ninja the win. Laurel has always been one of the most dominant female players in challenge history. Look for her to return next season even more pissed off and she was this season.
28. Wes Finished 28th
Due to my error the week 3 write up for our power rankings got destroyed. So instead of rewriting the entire power ranking I'm just going to give you a proper write-up for Wes after he got eliminated. Last week Team USA was riding a high with three consecutive victories. Wes however play the sloppy game at the beginning by showing his cards and calling out Josh for his lack of dedication to following Team USA plan. bananas and Laurel have been wanting to get out west since week 1 I finally took advantage of vulnerable Josh and struck. West went into elimination against Bear his new rival, and got skunked. this trend continues to show that team games are just not made for Wes as he is unable to play his powerful social game that he always delivers on pairs or individuals. Going on to this week even though Wes was not on the show he was still the topic of conversation for almost all of it due to his strong alliance numbers. Hopefully West and come back and have a better showing then he did this season.
29. Tula “Big T” Finished 29th
30. Faith Finished 30th
31. Zahida Finished 31st
32. Sean Finished 32nd
